Dan is alive.

My cousin Dan went skiing on New Year's Eve in the central Cascade Mountains and disappeared.

Rescuers found Dan this evening. He evidently managed to find intermittent shelter while realizing the need to keep moving, and survived 4 days in sub-freezing temperatures. He is now in the hospital, being treated for hypothermia. He might lose a couple of toes, but he is alive.

Never say never. Never lose your optimism. And never take your family for granted.

That's obviously good news, and good advice. Sounds like he kept his head. (Unlike the snowmobiler they were looking for in our country, who tried to keep walking rather than finding shelter. They found his body this weekend. Count your blessings, and his common sense.)
