Grumble....

I got sick this weekend. Fucking hell.

It's Monday morning, and I'm still sick. I'm afraid I'm not dealing with it very well at all. When I get sick, it's as if nobody else in the History of Mankind� has ever suffered through a cold the way I suffer through a cold. Compounding this is the fact that I haven't been sick in a long time. Seriously. I think because I haven't been compromising the ol' immune system with hefty doses of "medicinal" Jack Daniels, I've gone back to this state where I'm seldom ill. This is true; up until a few years ago, I would very rarely get sick, and when I did get sick, it'd be from something completely random and bizarre. To wit: I've had two staph infections, one resulting in an inch-long scar behind my right ear from where it had....um...turned into a huge eggplant-colored abscess that subsequently had to be lanced and drained; a heinous case of swollen glands that kept me out of school for a full month, with a trip to the Mass. Eye and Ear Infirmary to have them drained.....I've had impetigo, German measles, and walking pneumonia, but I seldom get a cold.

So now I'm sitting here, feeling exquisitely sorry for myself, and trying to figure out where I got this from. My bandmate Tom was pretty friggin' sick on Friday night, but he claimed allergies. I need someone to blame! I blame....J.Lo! Yeah! I mean, why not?

TANGENT: I was at Tello's the other day with Sally and we were stopped dead in our tracks by those spike-heeled Timberland boots that you see everywhere now. They were just so awful. So very awful. We stood there, looking at the display pair in stunned silence when finally Sally said, "I blame J. Lo."

"Yes, J.Lo is to blame for all the great, pressing problems of the world today."

I digress.

I only started feeling shitty on Saturday afternoon. In the morning I felt pretty good....chipper, even. I was up at 7:30, and I went for a jaunt through Forest Hills Cemetery. Came home, went to the diner for breakfast with the houseboy, walked over to Hi Fi, shot the shit with Deb, bought Nik Kershaw's The Riddle album on vinyl for 95 cents, got the new Brett Rosenberg Problem CD, then wandered back home. And all of a sudden, I was so friggin' tired, so I took a nap, and two hours later, instead of waking up feeling all refreshed, I felt like ass. And thus it has been now, for over 36 hours, and I am just not dealing with it very well at all. I mean, I have a show this Saturday, I got my sister's grad. school commencement this Sunday....being sick just in no way factors into this week whatsoever.

I'm telling you: I'm the goddamn poster child for Murphy's Law.
