The Digs.

I really didn't want to start posting pictures of the new place until I had everything unpacked. At the rate I'm going, this won't be until Christmas. We're probably down to a couple of boxes per room, and yesterday I actually wound up getting rid of four boxes of stuff deemed "unnecessary" (it's amazing the kinds of things that you don't think you're gonna be able to live without wind up being completely dispensable 3 weeks later).

But people have been asking, and the place is more or less together now, and I was also inspired by seeing our old place back on the market. A few weeks in the new place have given me a bit more perspective, and in looking at the OLD place, I see it's not quite the hovel I depicted it as in those final weeks of living there. For the price, it's a perfectly serviceable place to live. I, however, have found that when you get to be a certain age, "serviceable" just doesn't cut it anymore. It makes all the difference in the world to live in a place where you don't have to prop a chair up against the oven door to keep it shut.

So. Here are some shots I took. There are still some rooms that aren't quite ready to be photographed (the bedroom, and the houseboy's office). First, of course, is the kitchen:

My office:

The living room:

The bathroom:

Of course, what everyone REALLY wants to see is the Porn Shower, given the eyerolling ecstasies it puts me in on a daily basis. I tried several different angles, trying to best capture the epic, slammin' MAJESTY of the Porn Shower, and I really think I've failed to adequately capture it. This photo does the Porn Shower very little justice, indeed, but hopefully you get the general idea:

I still can't believe how awesome this shower is. It makes me all humpy.

Hey, just saw "the plate." I remember seing the ashtray when we were there, but had forgotten about that silly little plate. What memories. I think Grandpa Flaherty would get the biggest kick out of seeing it in your home. Who knew what an off-hand, unplanned little "gift" that piece of schlock would become. Thanks, Honey.
